Research Summary
- In vitro micropropagation of adult tissues from select black walnut as an alternative for grafting and budding. Determine the potential benefits of various mulches, ground covers, and woody nurse crops to control herbaceous competition and improve growth of hardwood seedlings and saplings. Evaluate changes in ecological processes associated with reintroduction of fire in the central hardwoods region into various forest communities (glades, savannas, and woodlands), especially emergence and significance of legumes in the carbon and nitrogen cycles.
